Artist Services’ Favorites of the Week – Aug. 29, 2014

The members of the Spotify Artist Services team are, first and foremost, music fans. We’re always looking for new music to add to our Spotify playlists and share with our friends and fellow music lovers. So every week we’ll post our favorite new tracks and albums here on the Spotify Artists blog and hope you share what you’re vibing to in the comments!

Here’s what the team’s been digging this week:

Ulf : “It’s been an amazing few weeks for special editions and compilations. Three of them deserve “best in show” mention: The Allman Brothers Band – The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings which is one of the best live albums of all time, that suddenly just got even better! Next up is Elvis Presley – That’s the Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) with some of the best “King” of all time. Lastly a very interesting one: Richard Branson founded his own Reggae label “Front Line” and signed a ton of amazing artists. None of them had a big breakthrough but the suitcase of money he took to Jamaica back then made it possible for us to now enjoy this: Virgin Front Line: Sounds Of Reality.”

MyEverythingBritt : “This week I was reminded of my love of Portishead, which led me down a musical rabbit hole of gothy-dark goodness.  Put on your eyeliner, black lipstick, and best angsty scowl! Portishead – Mysterons.”

Jordan “It’s Ariana Grande‘s new album My Everything. No shame.”

Skeet : Joanna Gruesome – Anti-Parent Cowboy Killers – They’re touring with Potty Mouth right now and SO GOOD.”

Rosa : “Marlene – Indian Summer in an effort to keep summer vibes going as long as possible…”

Ulf : “For those who keep on talking about all these amazing new singer songwriters that are popping up everywhere – here’s the master at work: Townes Van Zandt – Live At The Old Quarter, Houston, Texas.”

Skeet : The Band – Atlantic City – Bruce Springsteen wrote it but always preferred this version.”

LBRcoverRosa : “Lost Bayou Ramblers – Cote Gelee Two Step to get in the mood for driving to the Louisiana Bayou, eat crawfish and dance!”

Ulf : “I have been digging the new album by Talking To Turtles – Split – had the band on my radar for a while but this one has come out really quirky and cool – check out Talking To Turtles – Passenger Seat and Talking To Turtles – Safetyville.”

Skeet : “Kacey Musgraves – Merry Go ‘Round – Been revisiting this album. So good. Sooooo good.”
