Check out the latest Spotify-50 and Spotify Viral charts from all territories: http://www.spotifyartists.com/charts

It’s the final chart week of 2013, so make sure to take a look at our Year In Review and check out the most-played and most-viral artists and songs on all of Spotify through the year! You’ll also be able to see your listening stats, including your total streams, minutes played and your top tracks and artists.

US – Top 50:

Eminem ends the year with another week at #1, but the gap is tightening.

This is “The Monster”‘s fifth week at #1 in the US, but Pitbull and Ke$ha’s “Timber” is gaining ground: last week they were 220,000 streams behind and this week that deficit has gone down to 120,000. Will the holiday spirit change the Top 2 for the first time since Thanksgiving. We’ll see in 2014!

One Republic’s “Counting Stars”, already a chart-conquerer in the UK, is up a spot #4-#3 this week. The track has been seeing a steady increase in streams the last few weeks, so it could definitely challenge the Top 2 in January. “Royals” by Lorde switches places and drops a spot #4-#3.

Our newest entry into the Spotify Top-5 is without question the Most Viral track of the last two months: A Great Big World’s “Say Something”. Just two weeks ago the track was at #17, this week it’s up a whopping seven spots #12-#7. Expect a big shakeup in the Top 5 soon!

“Sweater Weather”, by the Neighbourhood, stayed as steady as the cold weather at #10. Winter officially begins this week, so we’ll have to see if that affects streams.

BanksUS – Viral Highlights:

The most viral track in America is “Fall In Love” by Phantogram. The electro-duo from upstate New York have a new album coming out in February 2014 called Voices, and if this track is any indication the album is sure to have a big impact on the charts in the new year.

In at a close #2 is “Waiting Game” from LA’s Banks. Aided in part by soundtracking a prevalent Victoria’s Secret commercial, this track has been gaining steam in the past few weeks and just exploded this week.

Banks is showing up all over the internet on “Artists to Watch 2014″ lists, including ours. Her performance on the Viral Chart says that’s a great call.

UK – Top 50:

The top two are unchanged in the UK as well, with Eminem/Rihanna at #1 and Bastille’s “Of The Night” at #2. The gap is closing somewhat here, but not as quickly as Pitbull in the US.

Wham“Royals” spends another week at #3.

“Counting Stars” had been sliding down gradually after a long stint at the top of the chart. But streams of the song actually went up this week, and the track jumped two spots #6-#4, reaffirming its status as a global hit.

The rest of the chart is virtually unchanged, but the UK is notable for being one of the first territories where holiday music has entered the Top 10. Wham!’s classic holiday track “Last Christmas” is #9 this week, and we expect it to stay in the Top 10 until December 26th.

UK – Viral Highlights:

It pays to pay attention to the Spotify Viral Chart, because it’s very good at predicting “the next big thing”. Lorde, Robin Thicke, and many more huge hits of 2013 showed up on the Viral Chart before the Spotify-50.

We say this, because this week, the UK’s most viral song is “Take Me To Church” by Hozier. Hozier is an Irish singer songwriter and we expect him to do huge things in 2014 on both sides of the ocean.

Philly’s The War on Drugs is at #2 with their new song “Red Eyes”. Heads up for a new War on Drugs album, Lost in the Dream, set to be released in March.

De Jeugd van TegenwoordigFeatured Chart – The Netherlands

The Top-2 of the Dutch Spotify-50 looks similar to the rest of the world (Pitbull #1, Eminem #2), but then things start to deviate a bit.

John Legend’s “All of Me” was released during the summer and has been gaining momentum since. It cracks the Top 3 in the Netherlands, up a spot #4-#3.

The DJ trio Yellow Claw is at #5 with their song Shotgun, and the French rapper Maître Gims  is at #7 with “J’ime Tire”.

The top of the Viral Chart is occupied by  (which translates to ‘Kids These Days’) and their holiday-themed song “Ho Ho Ho”. Another holiday song is at #2 (Tiny Little Bigband’s “You Put The X in X-Mas”).

And since they came on Spotify last week, Led Zeppelin has been one of the most played artists all of the world this week. “Stairway to Heaven” is #3 on the Dutch Netherlands Viral Chart and should be showing up on lots of other charts in 2014.

See you next year!
