We’re excited to reveal that the Spotify Artist & Manager Grant, handed out at last night’s Artist & Manager Awards 2014, goes to Gengahr, who are managed by Kirsten Winn & Stephen Taverner of East City Management.
The grant is awarded to an artist and manager partnership that show great promise. Gengahr and their management team will receive a cash grant of £10,000 which can be used however they feel will be best for their career. The prize also includes a Spotify promotional package which can be used to promote future releases.
All of the artists nominated have fantastic potential and some great music under their belt already. But, the grant isn’t just about the music; it’s about an artist and manager team that we feel is best placed to make the most out of the prize to take their career to the next level. We believe that Gengahr and East City Management have an amazing team and plan in place to capitalise on the band’s excellent music.
The 1st runner up prize of £2,500 cash and a Spotify promotional package was won by Eaves and Stefano Anselmetti from Prolifica Management. The 2nd runner up prize was won by Hockeysmith and House Management who take away a Spotify promotional package.
We’d also like to congratulate all remaining nominees. The Spotify Artist Services team will be working with each of them over the coming months and years to help them get their amazing music out to Spotify’s millions of users.
For this year’s grant, we had an expert panel of music industry professionals nominate unsigned artists who they felt had huge potential. Spotify’s Artist Services team then met with all of the nominees to decide on the winner. The grant has been an incredible opportunity for us to hear first-hand about the challenges that bands at this very early stage in their career are faced with, and the plans they have to overcome those challenges. This experience helps us to continue to make Spotify the best music service in the world for emerging artists to kick off their careers.
Congratulations to all of the winners and the nominees. You can see more about them all below and check out Gengahr’s “Demo EP”:
